Verlaine vs. Lloyd
Nov 16, 2003, 22:13
Having seen Television in concert, I was surprised to learn that all those cool noodly lead guitar riffs are actually played by Richard Lloyd, not Tom Verlaine. Verlaine is the one who plays the static "dada-dada-dada" type of riffs while Lloyd tears it up (of course Tom V has to sing too.)

Talking to other TV buffs who've never had the chance to see them live, most seem to have the same misconception I had that Verlaine played the "lead licks" instead of Lloyd.

In other words: Richard Lloyd, seriously Unsung!

And also: gonna R. Lloyd again filling in for the late Peter Laughner when *ROCKET FROM THE TOMBS* hits town in about two weeks! Yay!
