EGD , the comment β€œ...the bath themselves were dedicated to Minerva , a healing deity .” does not include or entail that they were dedicated to her in that role. If you or anyone else reads that into it , you are mistaken , semantically and logically . Roman temples are dedicated to particular gods and their role is not specified e.g. when a temple is dedicated to Jupiter there is no mention that it is Jupiter in the role of defender of boundaries as opposed to his more usual role ,therefore there is no question of β€œin that role β€œ even being applicable in the first place , it wouldn't even be a consideration .

The healing was added as additional info because it is a less well known attribute but is obviously relevant to the healing aspect of the site .

Top bit accepted, but then why be specific in mentioning healing alone in relation to the Great Bath? Why not mention the other aspects of Minerva. It becomes relevant only by your own creation, if you will, by only referencing that one aspect.

To put it more succinctly (!) The temple to Asclepius (medicine) and Cross bath makes sense. The great Bath and Minerva only makes sense by placing unusual emphasis on the less well known attribute alone and not mentioning anything about other more well known aspects.

Healing was mentioned to highlight the property of the site and as Minerva is less well known as a healing deity there is an obvious connection . any mention of wisdom ,arts and owls etc would be superfluous and not to the point .
