I used to pick up rocks at Pattack Falls, take them home and carve them with pictish symbols, then on tours that fell on a celtic festival I'd say an appropriate blessing and we'd sacrifice them to the waters of the deepest pool there. It tickled me to think they might be found 500 years from now and people wonder why they were out of their time period, and what they were for. Maybe the ancients liked to set us conundrums too.
