Which is not too far removed from what David Lewis -Williams and David Pearce hope to have done in "Inside the Neolithic mind" . Their conclusion that neuropsychology and ethnography show the that the near universality of belief in a tiered cosmos i.e. in our culture heaven and hell , and movement between the tiers maybe ascribed to the functioning of the human nervous system in a variety of altered states.
