'because it's crap' I think was just an argument Stray was using to illustrate that no matter what one's reasons are for not owning a TV, it's considered 'odd' at best or snobbish holier-than-thou at worst.

Which is really off topic, and Ibloody started it!

Now, does the public get what the public wants what the public gets?

I saw an anti-drug advertisment on US TV today, that tells us the evils of weed, in a lo-fi kind of way.

The jist was: If you smoke pot, you never do anything else with your life. Which I suppose is progress from it being 'unspeakable'. The advert also alluded to the fact that pot use doesn't necessarily lead to stronger drugs. It just makes you look grey, long-haired and lifeless ;-)
