Sorry I'm being a bit dense but it's complicated. However, I think I can now see what you're saying, which is: a force unknown to science radiates from the target and into the head of the dowser and causes a mind/body interaction (that he's unaware of) that causes his brain to send a message to his wrist muscles to twitch and move the rods? Is that right?

There are various assumptions that are problematic . Why assume the dowser is male , that consciousness is located in the head and that the movement of the rods is due twitching wrist muscles ?

You're right. Assumptions are motorways to Barmyland. So remind me, why is it assumed that a force undetected by both science and the dowser passes from the target into the latter's unconsciousness?

There is no assumption on behalf of the dowser . If materialistic science has failed to discover the energie(s) it doesn't mean that they don't exist , merely that science has yet to catch up . "There are more things in heaven and earth...."
It's the dowsers embodied consciousness that is the conduit for these energies ,which ultimately results in the rods being moved .
Like much of what is really important ,science is unable to account for this too ,"may God keep us from single vision and newton's sleep " but that is not our fault ,all we know is that it works .Thousands of us are out every week end ,weather permitting , we can't all be wrong .Only last week a dowser found a previously undiscovered ley that runs from Witton to Bolton .
