Thats interesting, i'm sure I read that bluestone chips were found in the holes? Were they BS chips that haven't been matched to the ones at SH, or were the chips different stone entirely?

There was a lot of BS about BHS in the early days , at one time it was even considered to be a four poster .There were suggestions of finds of bluestone in the pits initially but MPP eventually confirmed there were none .
The argument is that the size of the sockets are closer to stone holes than timber holes ,and they don't have the right shape for slab shaped sarsens reasonable enough but the same argument has been used about the Aubrey Holes and that has been debated . The BHS holes also had ramps alledgedly providing evidence for both insertion and removal .

Just to confirm we're talking about BSH and not BHS? Its all those christmas shopping ads on the tv..

oooops ,yes BSH .
Yes ,I'm sure there were claims of bluestone finds at BSH in the early days ,there was an antler used to date the "dismantling " and at that time they also mentioned iirc two fragments , I'll see if I can dig out the ref .
