Yep to your first question and yep to your last. One of the things that makes TMA 'lively and interesting' is that there >i<is>/i< a bit of personal stuff thrown in every now and then and that makes you feel you know people >i<as>/i< people and not just names with inflated opinions.
Things seem to get out of hand when posts become obsessively personalized or, 'my view of this or that' is the only one worth talking about kind of post. That's not only irritating, boring and confrontational it just doesn't take us anywhere - it certainly doesn't take us any closer to understanding the things we're interested in here; and sadly, in a wider context, obsessive and fanatical opinions take us ever closer to the horrors we're now seeing in London and elsewhere.
