ten albums...

*Dazzle Ships by OMD, I wouldn't have heard much Kraftwerk when I heard this...around 85/86 sat in the field of a public school we'd drink cider in. Definitely made an impression, despite the fact they weren't exactly innovators and made lots of shite pop thereafter...
*On Returning by Wire, I liked the stuff on Mute, but this 31 track compilation of their Harvest-era was something that I played all the time in 1989 (...as well as Surfer Rosa below)
*My Life in the Bush of Ghosts by Eno & Byrne, think I bought this as I'd heard a bit of The Jezebel Spirit on a Talking Heads docu on BBC2 around Naked. I didn't understand it at all!
*Mutiny/The Bad Seed by The Birthday Party, these two e.p's did more for me than the Bad Seeds stuff I'd bought after loving the Mercy Seat.
*Soul Mining (the tape version with Perfect & b sides on the flip) by The The
*Hatful of Hollow by The Smiths, for some reason the original tape I borrowed from a friend's brother had a bit of Perfect Friend by Lloyd Cole taped in the space after Please Please Please!!!
*Surfer Rosa by Pixies, see above...my first tape died in 1989, so I had to replace it as soon as possible, a new copy coming above a pint of lager or pack of ciggies....
*Ultra Vivid Scene by Ultra Vivid Scene, this was a tape that all my friends and I would concur on, the soundtrack for initial drinking, teenage smoking & related filth...
*Locust Abortion Technician by Butthole Surfers, after hearing 22 Going on 23 on Peel's Festive show I picked up the tape of this and had my mind truly blown!!
*Crocodiles by Echo & the Bunnymen, around 1988/89 I played certain records lots. I think I was having a late long coat era if you think that Closer, Faith, Pornography & Unknown Pleasures were others...The two Teardrops albums too, but Crocodiles was one that really grabbed those gonads, I always hear The Puppet as track two, due to the tape I had (which strangely listed Do It Clean).

ten songs...

*Ashes to Ashes by David Bowie, very alienated stuff and that wild video that probably looks shite now...
*Can Your Pussy Do the Dog? by The Cramps, borrowed the 7" of someone at school from the year above and dug that primal shit!!!
*The End by The Doors, due to Apocalypse Now!
*Psychonaut by Fields of the Nephilim, one 12" sounds like Two Tribes, but it sounded huge. Haven't heard since 1990...
*Paradise by Birdland, ditto..
*Some Candy Talking by The Jesus & Mary Chain, though the songs on the b-side - Psycho Candy & Hit - left as much an impression.
*Fine Time by New Order, it didn't sound like the U2/goth shite I listened to at the time, but I loved it!
*New Mind by Swans, saw this on The Tube and couldn't forget it all night. Imagine when I discovered their early stuff which is much more grim!
*Reynard the Fox by Julian Cope, a friend had an LP of this and I picked up a tape of Fried in my local Esso. It took awhile to appreciate the whole LP, which I got on vinyl in 1990, prior to that I just played Reynard. I was into the Doors by now, so probably related to it that way...
*In a Lonely Place by New Order, one night we were drinking thunderbird in the graveyard...

I was thinking of those teenage years...
