Re: Soundtracks of Our Lives week ending 3 Novembre 2013 Common Era

Got a week off from today, so gonna hopefully catch up with the mountain of listening I've purchased recently and only paid cursory attention to (well that's the intention anyway). Having said that, I'm off up the hills in the sun, so gonna load me walkman up and bliss out.

As to last week...

Death and Vanilla - LP,EP and 7"
Great Broadcast/Soundcarriers inflected psyche pop from Sweden.
Check em' out here...

Woods Family Creeps - S/T
Creepy backwoods psyche folk from the guys in, ahem, Woods.

Rocket From The Tombs - Rocket Redux
Much prefer 'The Day The Earth...' CD to this, but it ain't half bad. Was surprised to discover that they had released another album a few years ago called 'Barfly'. May have to check it out.

David Thomas - Surf's Up
If DT had forgetten the first two tracks on this, it would be perfect. A great continuation in sound from 18 Monkies that's fer sure.

Cave - Psychic Psummer
Still loving this rediscovery.

D.A.F. - Funfsehn neue DAF Lieder
Last album from DAF that I wasn't keen on to begin with, but it's really gotten under my skin of late. Pulsing house/electo/industrial from the stripped back pioneers of electro understatement (in German).

Grails - Black Tar Prophecies 4,5 & 6
Not really gotten under my skin. On initial listens it's all a bit Radio 2.
Mind you, i've yet to fully absorb Deep Politics, which I know some HHer's rate highly. For Me, Burning Of Impurities is the one to beat, this don't come close.

Verma - Salted Earth
Great droney, shoegazey Spacey album of sonic blissouts. Plus, get it free on Bandcamp, here...

Verma S/T II is free too...

Great stuff.

Other sounds includes.

Some great 'guess who it is' comps from Charlie 2300. (Prob got less than half so far C)

Berlin Wall Of Sound comp
The Afternoon Exchange
Deutsche Electronische Musik II
Circle - Six Day Run
Octopus Project - Forever Forms
Faint Wild Light - Echo
Bunnymen - Porcupine/Crocodiles
The Homosexuals Record
Aqua Nebula Oscillators - Third

That's about it, off up t' hulls now. Have a goody!
