Various - Leader Of The Starry Skies (Got both volumes of this Cardiacs tribute just before Christmas, but only just had the chance to listen. Consistently strong versions of songs from the Tim Smith/Cardiacs songbook. Get well soon, Tim).

Vashti Bunyan - Some Things Just Stick In Your Mind

Vangelis - Blade Runner
Vangelis - L'Apocalypse Des Animaux

Joanna Newsom - Ys (Still keep meaning to get her recent triple, but this is an album that rewards the occasional revisit).

Aphrodite's Child - Rain & Tears/The End Of The World (Just discovered this amazing live rendition of one of the title tracks, with Vangelis on kazoo! :

Isn't YouTube wonderful?)

Elton John - 21 At 33
Elton John - The Fox (Always feel that 'The Fox' is an underrated album. It is generally considered inferior to '21 At 33', which I find a bit stodgy in places. 'The Fox' seems more musically and lyrically adventurous to me, despite featuring 3 left-overs from '21 At 33'. It mixes a couple of irresistable Europop singles with some harder political moments and an orchestral suite. Of the two songs written with Tom Robinson, the hetero one went on the first album, and the homo one on the second).

The High Llamas - Snowbug (Usually just play the opening song 'Bach Ze', one of Sean O'Hagan's finest moments. Gave the full album a spin this time and found much of it sadly lacking in substance).

Broadcast & The Focus Group - Witch Cults Of The Radio Age (This album sounds all the more ethereal now that Trish is no longer with us. Poignant to hear her sing of 'Magic January').
