Re: Read Carefully
May 12, 2008, 21:10
I started off on the wrong foot with my introduction to Zappa. About 12 years ago I bought Over-Nite Sensation and Apostrophe on a single disc. I listened long and hard I really wanted to like Zappa but I judged him by those 2 albums’s and closed the door for about a decade.
I read a good review on Hot Rats (it may have been on this site) I picked it up and liked it then I bought more but I was real careful to listen to samples and do my homework. I am glad I re-visited Zappa there is probably something for everybody in his discography, but there is a lot of stuff that doesn’t appeal to everyone either.
I agree some of the early stuff is a good starting point especially ‘Hot Rats’ but my favorite so far is ‘Joe’s Garage’.

BTW this is fun to watch………
