His SCATHING hatred of the 70's DISCO scene immortalized on the track DISCO-BOY still rings out to me. {and myself as a 14 year old snot-nose in my Zeppelin T-shirt, circa 76'}.

hmmm, i'm all for folk being scathing + all that, + "we're only in it for the money" is great + brave + v prescient in that respect (is that 1967??? he had 'em sussed quick), but a guy like zappa taking potshots at disco in the 70s seems kinda lame + an easy/obvious target to please his audience ... how about taking potshots at led zep? wd've been equally justified + much more "scathing" (+ maybe even funnier ... i mean, disco KNOWS it's ridiculous already) .. just a thought.

tell you what this thread's done - made me wonder if i'd enjoy "hot rats", which i kinda thought wasn't bad when i heard it quite a bit, oooooh, nearly 20 yrs ago
