It happens that I am due to go to both Uisneach and Cappagh round tower within the next two months.
Cappagh round tower seems an odd site to leave something (especially in the base of the tower, which is how it reads) as it is on a small island which is a National Heritage Site. Leaving anything here at all would be a very serious offence anyway. As I have mentioned before most historical sites are owned by the state - they don't necesarily do a good job of looking after them but - they do take interference very seriously. Afterall this is a very tourist industry based economy now.
The location is still a place of pilgrimage for many Catholics, especially the holy well and the standing stone (it's a church adopted one, of which there are surprisingly many in Ireland) and the cache is placed near these too. I am sure the people going there to pray and worship would not be too happy to know that someone has deposited this nearby.
