Saw a buzzard today whilst at a Derbyshire site, first one i've seen in a long time.

There is something a bit special about seeing a buzzard gliding around on air currents over an ancient site.

This one was real shy, not at all like the ones you see over Avebury, if i hadn't had a few years involvement with falconry in my younger days i'd have completely overlooked it as a crow or something similar as it was a distant sighting, i'm pretty sure i saw a goshawk too but it could have been a fat female sparrowhawk as the pheasant it was feasting on was left in situ when i disturbed it, i'm pretty sure a goshawk would have taken to the wing with it firmly clutched in it's talons though it could have had it's fill and couldn't be bothered with no chicks to feed this time of year.
