Back on the topic of lost festivals, once the right date is worked out, you can then consult books like the Aberdeen Breviary for which saints days are celebrated on that day, and see what customs were observed, and add it to the pile of things that might be relevant. The customs might have migrated to the modern calendar too, of course.
