I was winking furiously when I suggested that! I think (?) that this thread became so convoluted because from the outset it was suggested that 'sacred' was, in itself, either 'wrong' or non-existent.

Now if you'd used the word 'ritual' I wouldn't have taken pains to illustrate that 'sacred' was, maybe, irrelevant to ancient minds, or at least meant something irreligious, and consequently more central to existence. It's all a process, and I'm honoured to be amongst such company :-)
