War and Beethoven's Fifth
Jul 11, 2004, 22:52
Well I just got back from a vac in Sorrento, and haven't had a great deal of musical inspiration there (if I have to hear 'That's Amore' any more I swear I'm gonna commit hari-kari on someone - and I'm a non-violent person). BUT - and like my own, it's a big but - I do have to recommend War's 'The Whole World Is A Ghetto' for being the most invigorating, heartwarming summer listen I've grooved to in many a year. Too bad it's taken me thirty years to get it.

And classical dudes, rush out and buy Decca's Erich Kleiber retrospective due out tomorrow. Includes simply the best ever Beetboven Fifth ever committed to record - take it from someone who owns over 100 recordings of that very masterpiece.

But I'm sad that way.

Take care out there
