Who's to say what is the 'right' age to become a mother? (Age of father doesn't seem to matter to society).

If you're too young you're a slag or irresponsible or incapable.
If you're too old you're slated as selfish or irresponsible.
If you're from the wrong class or don't have enough money you're condemned as unfit to be a mum.

If you read the papers you'll know that the only people who 'should' be giving birth are well-educated, healthy, middle-class women aged between 23 to 30, with a long-term male partner. These are precisely the same women who are too busy trying to build a life for themselves - get a decent job, a place to live, etc - to be bothered with having children.

Frankly I don't care what age people have their sprogs and I'm certainly not going to judge. I never wanted children anyway. I think the fewer kids people have the better. There are too many people in this world as it is.
