And this news story ... condolences to the family. It beggers belief that a river bed would be paved over but not much different to building on flood plains - which is what happened in the controversial housing development in my town.

From the internet:
The British couple who died when they were swept away by flash flood waters while on holiday in Spain have been named by Sky sources.
Kenneth and Mary Hall, from Lancashire, were hit by a wall of water as they sat outside a cafe in the town of Finestrat on the Coasta Blanca.
The flood came after a torrential downpour caused a river to burst its banks on Friday near the popular tourist resort of Benidorm.
Water was sent gushing through a dried-up ravine and inundated an area where traders had set up market stands.
It has emerged that the town's council was fined 83,000 euros for paving the ravine bed without permission in July last year.
The Halls - reportedly from Bootle, Liverpool - are understood to have been dragged away in the strong currents as water raged through the market place, wrecking cars and stalls.
It is thought their bodies were found trapped under a trailer after the flood.
