Great British Holiday EP's - Darren Hayman
As the title suggests this is a collection of ep’s. They probably worked better that way as a whole album of these charming and, at times, humourous vignettes can get a bit wearing, but he does have a nice way with words. “I’m looking for turquoise formica, I’m looking for Twiggy or someone just like her” he sings (or something like that!) in his ode to 1976. Best track though is Holiday Way with its DIY Beach Boys harmonies and a guitar solo that is so angular it’s kind of ridiculous!

Blood Pressures – The Kills
An album where the word ‘enjoyable’ comes to mind. It’s not gonna change the world but it sure makes it a more pleasant place. Apart from The Last Goodbye which may make you tearful.

Flesh & Blood – Roxy Music
Probably viewed as their worst album, and sneered at by early work purists, but though I could probably manage without the cover versions this is much better than I remember at the time. And the three hit singles (Over You / Same Old Scene / Oh Yeah) are ace!
