ah yes, the junkie factor. that does have to factored in. Used to spend a bit of time off and on around Mike Ness, leader of Fullerton, California based Social Distortion (went to college in Fullerton).

He lived then in small flat downtown (round about 1983 that was), around the corner from a club we used to play at and hang out in, and on a few occasions we all would wind up round his place idly playing records or staring at the TV. Easy going guy, though he was on heroin back then, and just kind of not all the way there. They were already famous, though because he wasn't all intense or weird about it, youu just viewed him as one of the crowd. Conversely, you were aware that you weren't going to be getting any closer to him than the odd chat. One was subliminally aware also that you maybe wouldn't want to get any closer than that.
