yeah sure i know your argument - you want to settle for the less horrific outcome - but my point was more about why there isnt a political party that represents the views of what you'd think were a lot of people. I like a load of people read the guardian, independent, loads of blogs and the people I speak to in pubs all appear to have pretty strong left credentials and then it all goes out the window as soon as you start talking about parties and elections - does it not make you think everyone is full of shit and all their righteous talk in between election times is just a load of bluster? you'd think if these 'radical' views were seriously held you would at least get some kind of party that puts these ideas before the people. Even in scotland where we have PR which favours more daringly put together parties - last May the last traces of socialism were removed from the parliament, my question isnt why does no one win from a left platform in our two countries it is why are there not mainstream parties who even stand on these principles? the shit thrown at nader by dems after 2000 was pretty shocking....
