Re: Legality
Mar 30, 2015, 12:10
Just realised that there's a very good litmus of the legality of the Keyhole releases: their Zappa ones. If they were illegal the FZ estate would have them withdrawn in a trice. Nope: legal. The radio station must own the rights, and the label have struck a deal with them. I'm all in favour of indepedent radio... the stations concerned may be in a bad way. If these releases help them survive, fine. If estates have not benefitted sufficiently from orthodox back catologues of mainly very established artists there's something very wrong. As for sound quality, remember sitting by the radio when gigs were broadcast and just being glad to hear the music? Someone here made a comment about the 'up arse' mentality of the Steve Hoffman brigade. I agree. This stuff is not recorded with several wet dishcloths over the mic. Buy. Listen. Enjoy.
