damn this is the most activity this site has seen in years obviously people care so Mr Cope may have to do some damage control like an impromptu gig

And I was really looking forward to seeing him again. But looks like he just can't Cope. Revolutionary my arse. Really? So he cancels one gig and your ready to throw the baby out with the bath water ? Sounds a bit Winey to be honest! Julian hasn't toured the U.S. In a very long time ( if ever) and that his prerogative, stop acting like he owes you something he's not your mate after all he's a pop musician keep it in perspective.

He has been quoted as saying (by the BBC) that he cancelled the gig due to 'security concerns'.If thats the case we have every right to voice our disappointment as its a bullshit reason.

He can cancel for what ever the hell reason he wants to! Did you lose out on cash because he cancelled? No you didn't. He however did by choosing not to perform, that's his choice he owes you squat. Just because we all spend quite a bit of time and energy on this site doesn't make us entitled or special we are customers and he sells a product we buy ,if mr cope decides to pull his product that's tough luck for you buddy. Sorry he cancelled but is that really such a crime I'm sure he will reschedule when and if he feels like it.

Of course Julian can cancel a show if he wants to but the issue here is the REASON that was given. If he had cancelled and no reason was given I doubt if anyone would think any more about it - he seems to cancel shows quite regularly! The problem is the reason is ill-informed, lazy and patronising. It's as if he knows something we don't! Hugh Cornwell is playing the same venue as part of the same festival 10 days after Julian's cancelled gig. Maybe Julian will phone Hugh up and explain to him why he should cancel too.

I'm sorry but I don't see your point at all. He can cancel for whatever reason he wants.he owes no apology only a refund . Why all the belly aching? Get on with it see another show and wait for the next tour date.im sure you will.

In response to all the grumblings from Facebook/Twitter, this was posted on the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival/Out to Lunch Facebook page: "Crikey. Keen to draw a line under Copegate and focus on the 51 other great Out to Lunch shows. Just to clear up one possible misconception - the gig was selling very well - only 30 tickets left. Feeling some sympathy for the man for what appears to have been a massive misjudgement. Be charitable folks and Happy Christmas." They're a nice bunch. I still love Copey...everyone makes mistakes.

Get on with it see another show and wait for the next tour date.im sure you will. Imagine if someone was stabbed in your town and Julian cancelled an upcoming show there as a result. His choice - but would you not think it was a ridiculous reason? Or would you think it's perfectly understandable, Julian might get stabbed too. It is the town where that person was stabbed after all. Yeah, probably safer to cancel the show. This is not a gripe about a cancelled show. I'm not complaining because I won't get to hear Pristeen or whatever (although that is a shame). This is about a wider misconception of Northern Ireland and what it's like here. Julian's behaviour reinforces stereotypes that we're trying to leave behind. It's disappointing is all.
