I have an aunt who suffers with this. She'd told us she wouldn't be able to travel for the Calamity wedding back then, but once the pressure was off, relaxed and when offered a lift the very day before simply said okay and was able to make it!
So, Squid - We'll put you down as a 'no' - but secretly won't consider you out of the running until closer to the time.
