What struck me about him and caused him to stick out was his lyrics. Often funny, occasionally biting, almost always about social issues of the day. His voice too, higher pitched than you'd guess by looking at him, is special. A couple of my favorite tracks are Mama's Baby, Daddy's Maybe and Ebony and Jet.
