Just trying to think what I've been listening to lp wise and I think I may be finding it difficult cos I've mainly been listening to cdrs of downloads of things from various cplaces.
I discovered this weekend that http://www.progarchives.com has a lot of MP3s scattered across it so I've grabbed a lot from there and mixed it with stuff from http://www.blrrecords.com/mp3.php
and the Tumult site as well as Insound and FreesoFRee.#
I got the Jesu s/t lp last week which is slow and epic and pretty great. Bought the Voodoo Child Hendrix 2cd cos it was going cheap , has some cool Live stuuff on it but mainly later period.
Today I got Pelt's Ayahuasca which is long droney and I think going to grow on me plus Jack Rose's 2 Originals of which is mainly solo guitar plucking and is vbat and mysterious.
I'm sure that I've forgotten a lot too.
Remembere playing World of Arthur Russell cos I love Go bAng#5 , Gang Of Four's Entertainment which I ought to do a lot more frequently and the CAbs' Voice of America which is really creepy and gorgeous.
My WAlkman's had a tape with DReam Syndicate's Day Before Wine and Roses on which is really slinky and had Whie Stripe's Elephant on the flip. I do kind of like the clever/funny lyrics etc but the music reminds me way more of some early 70s distorto blues crew than the GUn Club who are obviously infinitely better.
Also had Help Yourself on walkman tape which is great, must ibvestigate the lp2+4 BGO release.

Still after the release, though.

"Current 93 - Soft Black Stars and All the Pretty Little Horses - if I like these can anyone recommend others?"

Aye

Go for Thunder Perfect Mind... which is rather like All The Pretty Little Horses :)

Lard free aren't bad for dark Krautrock influenced stuff.
Art Zoyd are rock styled weird dark chamber music.
Urban Sax is massed saxes in a Terry Riley-alike minimalist style.
Illitch is repetitive guitar figures that sound like Fripp and Eno on a really bad trip.
Igor Wakhevitch's 'Docteur Faust' and a couple of his other early albums are really fucked up weird shit combining scary bombastic orchestral, electronic and rock in a nightmare trip.

I love most of Church of Anthrax. Do give it more of a chance.
You've inspired me to give Tilt its annual listen some time this week. Ta!

I feel like the only person on the planet who's got any time for 'Lodger' sometimes.
And I think African Night Flight and Yassassin are convincing experiments just as good as some of the stuff on "Heroes" and Low. Infact, I fucking love African Night Flight: Great insane track of speed psychosis, that one.

I like quite a lot of 'Outside', though there are things on it I do tend to skip. But then that shouldn't matter much, what with it being a 'non-linear hypercycle'.
Heheh.
The production is a bit dense really. Too much going on a lot of the time. It seemed they were determined to include every instrument recorded at all costs. Some good tunes (and non-tunes) on it though.
