Moonlight is actually red in colour! Photographers are aware of "Colour Temperature" ie as the wavelength gets longer the perception of the colour tends toward the red end of the spectrum. However the eye doesn't work well in low illumination and "ignores" the red giving us the impression of blue light. The "silvery moon" is really more of a copper colour!
