I'll tell you something, there must have been a hell of a lot of people about to fill those terraces.


For anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of experiencing summer solstice at Avebury I’d certainly recommend it!

As for ‘filling the terraces’ I remember Michael Dames giving a talk, many years ago, from near the bottom of the ditch in the north-east quadrant. MD stood on the outer side of the ditch and the rest of us sat on the inner side – the acoustics were perfect, and the setting second to none :-)
