I cannot comment on the level of pesticides used around Wiltshire; one the many reasons I love the Avebury landscape is because bits of it ripen into fields of golden grain by Lammas. Last year I stood on Waden Hill and watched a tractor harvesting hay in the meadow at the foot of Silbury - on that particular summer morning all seemed right with the world.
Please do not call this shite.

As it happens this year's crop-circle 'land art' at Barbury Castle caused £700 worth of damage; I have no doubt that a similar cost is accrued with each new 'artistic expression'.
