Thanks for your understanding Rombalds II , sadly mid summer is not the best time for photographing rock art in the UK , but seeing the stones in different seasons and re-visiting adds to the understanding .If it's any consolation I have attempted photographing marked rocks in the past few weeks and it's almost impossible to see the marks , but a return in winter or early morning /late evening usually provides a decent pic , cloud cover permitting.
