Top of the playlist this week has been Howard Devoto's illustrious solo album, 'Jerky Versions of the Dream'. I've been playing this all week, thanks to Severin who posted me a copy. Many thanks. A very witty songwriter. This album is vastly under-rated.

Also, came away from friends in Manchester at the weekend with a clutch of CDs to listen to, amongst them 10,000 Maniacs 'MTV Unplugged', Nirvana 'Unplugged in New York' and a 'Completely Acoustic' bootleg of REM. Hmmm.

Had the need for some electric guitars and real energy... So...
The Distillers 'Sing Sing Death House'. Great tunes in a rama-lama punk style. Can't understand a fucking word she sings, but hey, that's the beauty of it. (Very similar to hubby's band, Rancid.)

Other stuff listened to;
Meat Beat Manifesto 'Subliminal Sandwich'.
The Warlocks 'Phoenix'.
Neu! 'Neu! 75'.
Dr Pablo 'North of the River Thames'.
Bim Sherman 'Miracle'.

And The Adverts 'Crossing The Red Sea With...'. One of my favourite albums from the punk era. Have always thought that TV Smith was a great songwriter.
