Re: Reclaiming unacceptable symbols
Apr 07, 2005, 08:11
"The main point about this on THIS board is the defacement of prehistoric sites. Whatever form this takes will be offensive to the likes of us here, so combine that with a perceived "offensive" subject matter and it's BOUND to raise heckles..."

It's a funny place here, with very specific and quirky acceptability limits. Saying "c*nt" - OK , "God is a lot of nonsense" - OK, "War in Iraq was wrong" - OK, etc etc - even though hundreds of millions disagree. Not that I mind, it's a club of likeminded individuals. Anyone who bucks the trend will get a hard time probably but no-one will deny their right to say it hopefully. "Freedom of expression" is another big point of agreement in this club.

BUT, Mikey please note: Freedom of expression is a crap concept that exists nowhere and shouldn't. Please don't cite it as justification for waving your stupid flag. YOUR freedom to express impinges on MY freedom not to be upset so your freedom isn't an absolute, it has to dovetail with everyone else's. You're a naive little boy that doesn't understand about society.
