Yes and that is why we have to look at what went on world wide before making assertions about what Palaeolithic or Mesolithic people did or ate. Palaeolithic people where? Rise of what sort of farming where and when? Does the term "Neolithic" have any real meaning? No - but it's a convenient label.

Regarding farming/herding and farming/growing - both came in and went out again with climate change. Early examples in the middle east with the Natufian hunters and early sedentism giving way to abandonment of farming and return to hunting. Glaciation in northern latitudes gave rise to drought in Africa. Melting ice led to inundation of Mediterranean coastal setlements. Global warming is nothing new and effects were world wide. Fascinating book by Steven Mithen - "After the Ice" - looks at global human history from 20,000 -5,000BC. In separate lengthy and thoughtful sections, he looks at Western Asia, Europe, the Americas, Greater Australia and East Asia, South Asia and Africa. Brilliant and well written, but such a complicated picture to absorb and assimilate!
