I suppose Callanish (to name one example) is more loved than other later 'civilizations' is because, although it was the embryonic stage of all that one loves to hate (control, etc), it was all still soaked in an almost infantile innocence, (just) after people became settlers and started to gain control of the land. And that's why they still inspire peace, etc
