Even I had to admit that transmitting from a field near Leighton Buzzard (camping with daughter) wasn't going to happen last night, so here we are a day late...

Jenny Hval – Blood Bitch. I’m slightly undecided about the album as a whole, as it’s a bit self-consciously PoMo in places (does anybody use that term anymore??), but I love this track, which is airy and creepy at the same time, like Jane Weaver on valium: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVaWc00aZ30 (freaky video too)

Folk Devils – Beautiful Monsters. Upcoming best of, first time on CD etc. One of those names that used to crop up in the indie racks in the mid-80s, who I managed to completely avoid hearing. Yet another error – there’s some great punky/bluesy stuff here that transcends the period production. Steamhammer – Mountains. One of those relatively big at the time groups that seem to have been edged into the historical long grass. You can kind of hear why, as there’s nothing truly that memorable here, but there’s a very nice vibe and tone throughout, a bit like the Groundhogs meets pre-Aqualung Tull: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aMdLGy2fKo
