Hyperbole alert but I just got back from an afternoon screening at the local Vue. In short it is a genius film of an absolutely extraordinary performance. Puts the whole of Song Remains The Same and the RAH / Earls Court / Knebworth DVD in the shade. Not a single second of it comes off as phoned-in and puts many of their contemporaries to shame in the process (Mick, Keef, Pete, Roger, Brian, Paul etc hang your heads). Only the Mott and VdGG "comebacks" came close to having the same fire in their collective bellies. They play like they love the music, they stay within a few short feet of eachother rather than spread across acres of arena staging and they act like they actually like and respect each other. No one hogs the spotlight. No one tries. I have seen Plant loads of times in various incarnations and also saw a lot of shows on both Page/Plant tours and this was leagues ahead. Jason Bonham (star of the show) is a wonderful foil for JPJ and it is the first time I have seen / heard Page play live where I wasn't filling in the gaps in my head. Plant is in absolute peak form, better and stronger vocally than on many of the post 75 bootlegs I have heard. The DVD should be good but go see it in the cinema as the sheer scale of thing is jaw-dropping. Luckily the projectionist turned the volume way up on request so after two or three songs it was old school, can't hear yourself think loud. It's a ferocious and emotional beast and if I had a choice between being in the O2 Arena five years ago and seeing the movie in a theatre then I think I would want to have seen the movie. In fact if it turned out that this was the last two and a quarter hours of rock n roll I ever heard I would not be an unhappy man. That good.

Sounds fab. I'll try and see it in the picture house when I get back to Manchester. The recent online teasers totally licked my lolly and this review just makes me want to dive in ASAP!

Agreed, loved every minute. Misty Mountain Hop in particular, but it was all great. The smiles and looks between them, and their proximity, and the quality and force of the music. Wonderful.

I remember going to see The Song Remains The Same at the local ABC back in the day and a load of Zep fans repeatedly shouting "Volume" in a vain request to get that result!

Thankyou - although I seem to have been stuck on 1000 for a while now.
