My view's changed since someone said that both the book & the CDs will be available in non-deluxe formats. It's only when exclusive content is included in summat like this that I get really angry.....

Tis a shame when the folks that'd most value summat like this are priced out of the 'deluxe' tho....

love

Only a very thin semantic argument away from 'doing a corporate' huh?

I don't know, the things a struggling author has to do to get their book published these days.

Dear all,

Thanks for your interest in Julian Cope's Copendium.

At Julian's request, we have amended a few of the details.

Julian wanted more people to have the opportunity to own a copy of the ltd ed so we've increased the print run to 250 and therefore managed to bring the price down to £120.
To allow time for the extra copies to be printed the publication date has moved to July 5th.

There is no longer an event in June, it's likely that there will be something planned for November to tie-in with the trade edition of Copendium (details tbc) and open to the public. As most of you have already bought a copy of the book, you will of course gain free entry to the event.

If you pre-ordered via our website or directly through TBS you will be charged the new price on or around the publication date.
All other retailers have been informed about the new price, please get in touch with them directly if you are concerned.

Full, revised details below - please do let me know if you have any questions.

We are very excited to be publishing a highly limited and collectable edition of Julian Cope's Copendium.
Only 250 copies will be produced at £120 per copy.

The box set will contain a beautiful leather-bound book (every copy signed and numbered) plus 3 CDs compiled by Julian and produced by ACE Records which are designed to be listened to whilst reading.

The book itself comprises of a collection of album reviews and themed track samplers that lay out an alternative history of the last six decades of popular music, written by the visionary musician, antiquarian and musicologist.
The result is a feast of obscure and neglected masterworks; Krautrock, motorik and post-punk, stoner and doom metal, occasionally even jazz, spoken word and hair metal.
Cope is the perfect guide to this novel terrain: impeccably informed, passionate, insightful and deeply funny.
The Copendium is his re-imagining of a useful canon of popular music, and it is set to become required reading.

Julian Cope is one of Britain's most influential and revered songwriters. He is a leading authority on Neolithic culture, a committed political activist, a much respected musicologist and critic, and an experimental occultist. His many books include Head On, The Modern Antiquarian and Japrocksampler. Julian lives in Wiltshire with his wife and family.

Shepherds Bush Empire
The Straits
Pop/ Rock
Formed in 2011 The Straits are Dire Straits musicians Alan Clark (keys), Phil Palmer (guitar) and Chris White (sax) as well as Steve Ferrone (drums), Terence Reis (guitar), Mick Feat (bass) and Jamie Squire (keys).

Erm ... Sacred Reich, Bloc Party, Jack White, and Bernie Marsden also all have London shows that evening. No idea how far away from Rough Trade East any of these are though.

Hmm I suppose this means what we say might well be taken on board by the drude, or at least fed back to him.

£120 is a much fairer price for it (assuming you still get the cds etc as well)

Quite tempted now...
