Can't work out if it's youre defintion of 'everyone' or 'like' that's off in your origianl post ;-)

Similarly many mentioned above. Although, not liking Radiohead (etc) doesn't bother me at all

But, probably my prime example is the Beach Boys. Or, more specifically, Pet Sounds. Many people who's opinions and taste I rate think this is one of the best albums ever made. And, maybe once a year, I'll give it a spin to see if I can work out why. Mainly, I think "sounds just like the Beach Boys".

Similarly Marvin Gaye's What's Going On? Although, at least that does have the title track

2 previously mentioned:

Nirvana - didn't "get" it at the time, and still don't 20-odd years later. My wife loves 'em though - and I do admit that the riff to teen spirit was damned catchy.

Fleet Foxes get filed under WTF for me too. Though, I'm generally suspicious of music that my Mum "loves".

I'd always put Pink Floyd in the rubbish bin, but that changed after I went cycling on acid with a tape of Relics for a soundtrack. Couldn't imagine listening to them now, but I couldn't imagine dropping acid either.

That said, I may just dig out Fat Old Sun for a spin - a lovely song.

And for what it's worth I reckon Jim Reeves' version of He'll Have To Go is a serious MF of a tune:

Good call. Another band that I expected to like, but they can't write songs and the guy can't sing. And no amount of prancing about with a man in a gorilla outfit can disguise that for me.

Now that I've clarified the textual error in my other post (!), I reckon it has to be the following:

Country & Western
Yodelling
Punk Rock
Enya
Chas & Dave
Radiohead.

Any of the new "safe bands" Fleet Foxes, Mumford and Sons, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilly Peppers etc. The sort of band your Mum would mention to try and appear trendy.
