On the contrary I think quite a lot of people here do get it. It is a very rare thing finding a performance which is other than going through a repertoire. Coltrane in 60 or 61 played a residency at the Village Vanguard: sometimes a couple of sets a day, but I heard reports that he approached each performance with the intensity that it was going to be his last.
