nor in the case of some I've posted, but I find it's true more often than not though that a bands best album is their first for me. upsettingly. I've always preferred 'Still' myself.

The violence of 'Unknown Pleasures' is faultless. perfectly captures that period of northwestern unemployed depression-ah.

keith a wrote: Lazy slobby rock. Give me Beggars, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers any day. Why this has become accepted as a 'classic' over recent(ish) years is truly beyond me. It's like London Calling to me. Over-rated, and - to re-but the usual cliche - no, I'm not sure it'd even make a great single album. Imo... ; ) i think its the sloppiness that attracts me back to Exile time and time again. it sounds like they had fun making it. even if they can't recall much it has it all. not least an amazing vibe about the whole thing agree about London Calling though. pile of shit like everything the Clash did

Definitely Radiohead's 'OK Computer'. Also Jane's Addiction's 'Ritual de lo Habitual', Julian Cope's 'Fried' and, in my very humbe opinion, The Wonderstuff's 'Eight Legged Groove Machine' - not a duff track on that one, and a bloody good piece of work for a debut album.

would agree on Jane's 'Ritual' and i'd also add 'Nothings Shocking' too both classic albums. pity the reformation one was wank 'Mighty Rearranger' is a good call too (IMO) there isn't a track on it that i don't love. which for a middle aged Percy album is quite an achievement

Did you not like 'Strays' then? I really rated it! It didn't have the same impact as 'Ritual' or 'Nothing's Shocking' granted, but then I'd expect them to have evolved over their 15+ years absence. Takes all sorts - I think sometimes these reformations and comebacks and things can be a mistake because people expect you to be what you were before and mean what you meant to them before and obviously a lot changes over the years so it doesn't always work out. Mind you, try telling Take That that - hasn't stopped them!
