Revolver is definitely up there. I'm not a massive Beatles fan but as an album that stands alone as a masterpiece (not least because it reminds me of being very young, very drunk, very irresponsible and very stoned!)

Yeah Hup is a masterpiece too and I don't know why I don't listen to it as much, but what really struck me about Eight Legged Groove Machine is that it was a debut - what an entrance!

'Strays' didnt grab me either (even if my other name is actually 'Stray' as in its my surname and it's what ppl call me, anyway, digressing). I have all the Janes Addiction albums and spin off band albums (even have porno 4 pyros, terrible stuff) and they were a great live band, but for me it's debut album syndrome here. Their first, and only real live, eponymous album on XXX records is the best Janes album for mine esp the covers of 'sympathy for the devil' and 'rock and roll', oh and the original version of pigs in zen.

....yeah I'd say its a perfect record.

The stones did as much great stuff in the 60's but can't think of a flawless stones album - if 'country honk' was taken off Let it bleed' then think that would be perfect.

All albums have at least one bad track.

Nearly perfect albums IMO:

Björk - Vespertine
David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars
Jane's Addiction - Ritual De Lo Habitual
Low - Secret Name
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (Track 3's hard work though)
Pixies - Doolittle
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Ween - Chocolate And Cheese

and many, many more.

I'd have to have Brand New Cadillac on it, too.

Oh alright...these are are as perfect as it gets for me.

Electric Warrior - T.Rex

Chairs Missing - Wire

Bryter Layter - Nick Drake

Marquee Moon - Television

Dusty In Memphis - Dusty Springfield

The Only Ones debut would probably be there, but the last track isn't quite so hot. Ditto Funhouse except the albums better but the last tracks worse.

Kilimanajaro except the original Sleeping Gas etc were better.

VU & Nico? Maybe...

Pet Sounds...nearly. Ditto Joy Division's two. Etc, etc.

have to agree that the debut was great. but i think it was a little flawed (SFTD for starters)

the trouble i had getting that record was insane. i remember reading a great review in Kerrang and hunting it down for yonks in Birmingham
