Soft Machine 'The Soft Machine' - absolute stone bonking classic from '68;
ZZ Top 'Eliminator' - very 80's, very slick, very very good;
Bob Dylan 'Blood On The Tracks' - lashed out on the new SACD version (£8.99 from Borders) but was underwhelmed by the alledged improvement in sound quality. As for the music, well to call it perfect would be to sell it short;
Joan Armatrading 'Love And Affection' - ace career highlights doubler from last year: all the Joan I'll ever need. This lady deserves reappraisal;
Can 'Ege Bamyasi' - surely their most enjoyable, if not their best, album;
Egg 'The Polite Force' - just played, spurred on by the excellent Unsung review read tonight. Lugia's words are echoed and agreed herewith. Well worth the £18 I paid for it on Jap import last year - check it out, prog muso fans.
Also played Michael Tilson Thomas' newish recording of Mahler 6 with the San Francisco SO. Great sound, indifferent interpretation. Bernstein rules ok.
Why are we sleeping?
love to all, Davey W x
