I think generally, the word 'rich' can be a catch all euphemism for loads of negative stuff, and (here)it's invariably used that way.
I don't think it's ever about yer local gp or head teacher, who by many of our standards, will be 'rich'!
Don't think it's ever used in the sense of 'how dare anyone have more money than me, must make em a bastard'.
More about those who exploit, etc.
All that stuff that can have you burling for ages.
PS I think my own gp and headteacher at the school I work in are two very, very nice people.
Of course somewhere some of em will be bastards. RICH bastards at that;-)
