I'm told explosions can do wierd things - for instance, one of the groups of firefighters attending the scene (most, if not all, of whom died) were believed to have been looting the site for a while because neatly folded jeans were found in their fire engine. Turns out that they had actually blown there, still folded. Charles Pellegrino has written a book about it, comparing the blast with other disasters like Pompeii.
