the old ID card business isn't as bouyant as it may seem - unbeknown to you all (well, most), I had a secret life as one of the country's few eGovernment smart-card programmers - yes, I was an evil oily rag who actually made the id cards, got them to work with databases, school dinners, all that

due to them being incredibly expensive, complicated and relatively useless, just about no-one wants them, apart from local government with massive grants to burn

so, should I spill the beans, or take the secrets to my grave ....
