I still have an OM2 that I can't bear to throw away either. Haven't used it for ages, but it takes cracking pictures. Now using a Kodak DX6490 digital that I've had for a couple of years. Despite being a Kodak, it has a 38-300mm (10x) optical zoom and through-the-lens (electronic) viewfinder and got very strong reviews at the time I bought it, especially for its optics. I'm considering an upgrade to a DSLR, but can't decide which one. Prices seem to be falling fast, so I might hang on a bit longer.

Canon 350D dSLR with a selection of lenses. My favourites are the Canon 70-300 f4.5-5.6 DO IS USM and the Canon EF-S 10-22 f3.5-4.5 USM (amazing lense! If you have a Canon dSLR, you really need to own this). Combined with the slightly cheaper (but still nice) Canon 28-105 f3.5-4.5 USM II, they cover all the focal ranges that I need. Seems like I'm carting around more camera equipment by the year though!

For those without a bank balance of vast proportions......... I recently bought a Fuji Finepix S3500 for £120 plus bigger picture card. 4 meg pics, 6 times optical zoom (39mm to234mm) Looks like classic SLR with loads of bells and whistles. Produces brill pics in all situations. More than adequate for general web use (see perhaps some of my latest postings) and for ordinary prints. Cheap too. Burn CD and take to Asda, nearly 300 prints for under £20. Jim.

I wouldn't buy from Pixmania. Ordered a digital compact as a Chrissy prezzy on the 12th November. Still hasn't arrived. They say they have sent it, Parcelforce say they haven't - I'm in the midddle. They never answer the phone (been trying for a week now) and they send automatic responses to emails. Sod 'em - am now trying to get a refund via credit card company.

I very nearly bought a D70 before my 350D. When I saw one 'in the flesh', I was so relieved I'd never made the purchase! I know it's superficial, but I really hate the look of the Nikons. Mind you, the D70 is also considerably larger than the 350D, and that alone would've swung the deal for me.

Olympus 4megapixel thing with 10xzoom on it. Love it, with the 4xdigital on top you can photo very small things that are a long way away....

I'm sure it'd be good, but I'd save up a bit longer & get a D70 package & a big lens if I were you. But I would say that coz we've got one & I'm in lurve with it.... Before we got it I had a nice ole Olympus digi with full manual options & used a Pentax film SLR, the model of which excapes me.... (Still got it but can't be arsed to check!) love Moth
