So what are some of your favorite albums of 2007? So far my two favorites are: Dungen - Tio Bitar (from Sweden) Earthling Society - Tears of Andromeda (got yours yet?) Otherwise, most of what's been catching my ear seem to be "indie rock comeback albums"! Such as: Dinosaur jr - Beyond Meat Puppets - Rise To Your Knees Throbbing Gristle - Part Two: Endless Not (Looking forward to the new album by Zolar X too!) Also been digging: Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity RTX (Jen from Royal Trux) - Western Xterminator The Fall - Reformation Post-TLC (and Mark E. Smith's collaboration with Mouse on Mars as "Von Sudenfed") Some lesser albums of interest: Ghost - In Stormy Nights (Japan) Bobby Conn - King For A Day Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? Wolf & Cub - Vessels (Australia) |

Most of the more exciting music I have heard this year has been live rather than on record but off the top of my head Rush and Marillion made brave and flawed efforts to keep the tattered old Prog flag flying Bill Nelson's latest outing "Gleaming Without Lights" is gorgeous the Damo Suzuki / Mars Volta collaboration is out on the edge and points to interesting futures beyond what is expected of them That said I am still waiting for someone to put something out that really knocks my socks off in 2007. Still, many many months to go yet and the cold seasons tend to be more fruitful for great records.

Hmm! Not heard of this Damo / Volta thing -- what's it called? (Or was it a gig not a record?)

It's called Please Heat This Eventually. Only 25 mins but a classy 25. It is billed as Omar A Rodriguez-Lopez & Damo Suzuki. Money Mark plays keys. http://www.amazon.com/Please-Heat-This-Eventually-Rodriguez-Lopez/dp/B000JRYO6K

All Cevin Key (Skinny Puppy, Download, Tear Garden) side projects, and all fantastic, but the best has got to be Plateau's Kushbush'. Anyone who loves really exciting electronic music should check this stuff out. http://www.subconsciousstudios.com/htms/buythings.htm
