Investigate Witch Cults Of The Radio Age - Broadcast & The Focus Group
I've been meaning to get this since it came out, but only just got round to it. I've heard so many great things about it, but was pretty disappointed on first listen even though I like Broadcast. Still, I was kinda getting used to its sound towards the end so this could prove to be a grower.
Blank Generation - Richard Hell & The Voidoids
One of my all-time fave LP’s. I've especially enjoyed the Creedence cover, Walking On The Water, this week. I love the guitar work on it though the late, great Robert Quine sounds more like Verlaine than Quine on it.
Amrita – Loop Guru
I didn’t like this as much as their debut, Duniya, but it’s a great album all the same, and one that still does it for me.
Babylon By Bus – Bob Marley & the Wailers
Some great live versions on this, not least the lengthy take on Exodus.
Alone on Penguin Island - Desmond Simmons
This may be familiar to Wire fans as a) Simmons was a mate of Colin Newman and worked on his early solo records and b) Penguin Island was produced by Bruce Gilbert and Graham Lewis. I dug this one out after hearing the sad news that Simmons died recently.
A Way Of Life - Suicide
Under-rated 3rd LP from Al & Marty. Dominic Christ is one of my all-time fave Suicide tracks.
